The Waiver Wire

Alex “Pokey” Herd is currently a first year law student at American University.  He, along with fellow author Ryan Mead, produces a fantasy football podcast known as Football Overhaul.  His sports expertise is primarily in the NFL and fantasy sports which comes from running two competitive and successful fantasy leagues.  This is his first serious attempt at blogging but he hopes to bring his knowledge and enthusiasm to The Waiver Wire.

Tom McCarthy is a first year law student at NYU, with aspirations of entering the sports world through his legal education. While an undergrad at Harvard, he worked for Harvard Radio Broadcasting in the sports department. A lifelong fan of the Yankees and Cowboys, he has more recently become a huge fan of the NBA. He hopes his first foray into the world of blogging will be a successful one, and he looks forward to contributing to The Waiver Wire.

Ryan Mead is a graduate student at Marist, studying for his Masters in Psychology. Along with Alex “Pokey” Herd, he produces the Football Overhaul podcast and lives and breathes fantasy football.

Greg Kaplan is a Marist College graduate with a degree in Sports Communication and a History minor. He worked closely with both the Marist College Television and Radio stations and was an on-air talent for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Marist Football and Marist Baseball and hopes to translate that into a career in sports broadcasting. He lives and dies by his New York Mets, hates everything Philadelphia (ev-er-ey-thing-ah) and allows monetary gain to motivate his other sports interests. Without Bill Simmons, I don’t take as much interest in sports writing.

Vincent Ginardi is a graduate student at The College of St.Rose, pursuing a Master’s in Communication. He recently graduated from Marist College with a degree in  Sports Communication and Journalism. At Marist, he wrote for the  sports section of The Circle and had a weekly radio show (Sports & More From Two to Four) with Mike Aurigemma. He hopes to one day write for a newspaper, magazine, or online media outlet.

Zak Lansing, or Zakariah, is a Marist College graduate with a double concentration in Sports Communication and Journalism, with a Psychology minor. He has written many freelance pieces, but nothing you’re actually interested in unless you like pieces fellating Derek Jeter. He currently has a job in his chosen field, but you don’t care about that either.  He also has plenty of broadcasting exper- are you still reading? Expect much from his chosen loves; baseball, football, fantasy sports, and some pop culture and relative gossip mixed in. He’ll also be the guy who fixes whatever goes wrong – and trust me, things will go wrong.

George Morris is a Marist College graduate with a degree in Sports Communication and a minor in Business.  He is currently trying to work his way from the bottom to the top in the radio industry. Status pending on that one.  While in college, he hosted the critically ignored sports talk show Ditka Bangin’ on Me and the surprisingly provocative interview program Meet the Foxes.  His sports of choice are basketball and tennis but he also enjoys baseball and the New York Jets.

Michael Cresci, best known for portraying  Sawyer on ABC’s Lost, is a Marist College graduate with a degree in Writing and a minor in complaining about the Mets, Jets and Knicks.  He writes a wildly unheard of movie/television review blog and spends his free time hunting the most dangerous game and rewatching Breaking Bad.  He also plays a mean 5’9(.5) center in pick up basketball and has been known to go by the name Cresci Chamberlain.   He hopes to eventually become a published writer of fiction, films, sport rants and anything else you can think of.

Michael Aurigemma is a Marist College graduate with a degree in Sports Communication and in Spanish.  He was a co-host with fellow writer Vincent Ginardi on a weekly radio show (Sports & More From Two to Four).  He is from the Boston area and has been told to say numerous phrases to entertain those around him.  He is an avid sports fan and follows basketball, football and hockey the closest.

Steve Sabato, a failed high school ice hockey goaltender, is a senior at Marist College. He co-hosts the award-winning sports talk-show ”Steve and Schwartz Talking Sports,” in addition to acting as president of Marist’s student radio station, WMAR. He would like to go to law school after he graduates, and hopes that one day some team will pay him to make the decisions he criticizes on a regular basis.
